As a child, I loved to bake. I would spend hours over the summer as a latchkey kid making cakes, breads, cookies, and pies. But it never occurred to me that I could bake for a living. It wasn't until I had my own children that I decided it was time to turn my hobby into a career. I am a Class B certified Cottage Food Operator. That means the health department actually came and examined my kitchen and issued me a license to bake.
We're all more careful about what we're eating these days. That's why I use high-quality, mostly organic, and seasonal ingredients and time-tested ingredients to create cakes that taste as good as they look. What's the point of indulging if it only tastes okay? I want my cakes and cookies to make you feel like the extra calories and sugar were worth it.
Dealing with food allergies and insensitivities, especially when you have small children, often means being left out after the candles are blown out. And that's no fun. That's why I work hard to accommodate all dietary restrictions and food allergies. I have developed a treasure trove of nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free recipes. Because everybody deserves a sweet treat.
